2025. January 31.On 31 January 2025, CER Hungary Zrt. took delivery of a Transmontana locomotive at a ceremony. This event not only marks the commissioning of the newest member of our fleet, but also an important milestone, as it is exactly ten years since our company received its first Transmontana locomotive. Over the past decade, CER has continuously developed its fleet to offer modern, reliable and sustainable solutions for international rail freight transport. The Transmontana 6,000 kW electric locomotives have helped CER with their outstanding performance and low maintenance requirements on the busiest European routes, including the Belgrade-Budapest rail corridor.
Fleet expansion and innovation
The newly taken-over 610-105 locomotive is equipped with the latest ETCS (European Train Control System) technology, which guarantees the safety and efficiency of transport. The locomotive will play a key role in freight transport between Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.
In spring 2025, CER will further expand its fleet with a new Transmontana locomotive, which will also be equipped with the latest technologies, increasing the company’s capacity and competitiveness.
International expansion and interoperability
The CER will start operations in Austria and Germany this year, which will require international type approvals for locomotives. A successful partnership with Softronic Srl. in Craiova will ensure that Transmontana locomotives meet the requirements of European and non-EU markets.
A sustainable future
The CER is committed to developing sustainable rail freight transport and is constantly implementing the latest technologies in its fleet. Putting new locomotives into service not only means increasing transport capacity, but also promoting environmentally friendly and energy-efficient transport.
